The 4-pair unshielded twisted pair (UTP) construction uses 28 AWG pure bare copper wire for improved conductivity and reduced resistance. The flexible, flame-retardant Low-Smoke Zero-Halogen (LSZH) jacket emits low smoke and toxic gases when exposed to extreme heat or in the event of a fire. This allows for safer installations in areas with poor ventilation, such as certain industrial environments, self-contained environments like trains and airplanes, as well as residential environments where building code compliance must be considered.
